Rehoming pigeon: kererū returns to hatchery 24 years after flying the coop

Published

‘Pidge’ disappeared from Rainbow Springs in New Zealand in 1996 and was not seen again before his return in August

He might not have had the best homing instincts. But a New Zealand native pigeon – or kererū – named Pidge made it back, eventually, to the place of his hatching after 24 years missing in the wild.

Pidge, who was hand-reared at Rainbow Springs – a wildlife and nature park in Rotorua, on New Zealand’s North Island – disappeared in 1996 and was not seen again before his return in August. That would make the bird, identified by a numbered band on his leg, 29 years old; most references list kererū lifespans as between 15 and 25 years.

Published

on

English artists Chris Lowe (left) and Neil Tennant (right) blasted onto the music scene in the early ’80s with their catchy chorus’, avant-garde fashion sense and synth-based dance singles like the chart-topping classic “West End Girls” on their debut album “Please” … which included other stand-out songs like “Suburbia,” “Love Comes Quickly” and “Opportunities.”
Pet Shop Boys piggybacked on the success of their freshman album to continue to create one-of-a-kind songs like “It’s A Sin” and “Rent” on their 1987 album “Actually” and their long-form songs like “Domino Dancing” and “Always On My Mind” and their 1988 album “Introspective.”
PSB continues to make music and released their album “Hotspot” in 2020.
Guess what the dynamic duo look like now in their 60s!

Dr. Dre Wants 5-Day Trial Over Prenup in Divorce Case

Published

on

Dr. Dre and his estranged wife, Nicole, have several areas of conflict in their contentious divorce, but the biggest stumbling block is the validity of their prenup, and Dre wants a trial … STAT.
Dre’s lawyer, disso queen Laura Wasser, has filed legal docs asking for a 5-day trial over the prenup. As we reported, Nicole signed the prenup before they married but claims Dre came to her shortly after the nuptials, saying he regretted “pressuring” her to sign it and tore up multiple copies right in front of her. Dre denies he pressured her and denies he ever tore it up … and points to a clause in the document that says altering it must be in writing.
Dre has asked to remove the case from the court system and have a private judge handle the divorce case — away from the public spotlight — but Nicole has rejected that, favoring instead a traditional court trial. If it stays in the courts, it may take a very long to for a judge to hear the case … because the pandemic has caused enormous trial delays.
To be continued.

Music Mogul Clive Davis Diagnosed with Bell's Palsy

Published

on

Clive Davis — the music mogul who molded the careers of Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson and many others — has been diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy … TMZ has confirmed.
According to his rep … Clive is currently being treated with antibiotics and steroids but he is expected to make a full recovery within the next 6 weeks. Bell’s palsy, which is muscle weakness that causes part of the face to droop, has so far not affected Clive’s speech.
Clive, who is famous for his Grammy parties, had originally planned a pre-Grammy gala party over Zoom slated for next month … but those plans will now move to later this spring, according to ShowBiz 411, which first reported the news about Clive’s diagnosis.
For the young kids out there … Clive Davis is a HUGE deal in the biz. On top of discovering Whitney, he also founded Bad Boy Records with Sean Combs.
He was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 in the non-performers category. And the 200-seat theater at the Grammy Museum is named after him.

Ted Cruz Posts Pics of Himself Delivering Water to Texans

Published

on

12:00 PM PT — Cruz also shared photos of him serving BBQ to firefighters.
Ted Cruz may have come up with a bright idea on his flight back from Cancun — if no one else gives him props, he’ll do it himself.
Cruz posted pics Saturday of him delivering water to his desperate constituents. You see Cruz carrying a case of H2O … shaking hands with a fellow Texan.
And, speaking of cases … this may be one of too little, too late. As you know, while Texans were freezing and dying, the Senator from Texas and his family jetted down to Cancun for some fun in the sun. He blamed his daughters for the trip and even suggested he was merely escorting them down and flying right back. That was a lie, although he did fly back the next day after being almost universally shamed.
What’s super interesting … AOC flew to Texas this week to help the folks and raised millions for relief efforts, and it ain’t even her state! BTW, the Congresswoman, who’s way more liberal than most of the state, was received warmly and enthusiastically.
So, regarding Ted … is it true — better late than never?
